Chief Executive Officers of All National Banks; All State Banking Authorities; Chairman, Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System; Chairman, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation; Director, Office of Thrift Supervision; Conference of State Bank Supervisors; Deputy Comptrollers (districts); Assistant Deputy Comptrollers; District Counsel; and All Examining Personnel
The above-named bank continues to be victimized by counterfeit official checks issued in the bank’s name. These checks are being presented for payment nationwide in connection with various scams.
The volume of these counterfeit items has increased and the variation of the appearance of them has become constant. Bank officials, therefore, should consider suspect all official checks drawn on Peoples Bank, National Association unless the purchaser is a person well known to the bank or to the person depositing the check. If there is any doubt about its authenticity, the approving official should verify any such check directly with Peoples Bank, National Association.
