WASHINGTON — The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency will host a workshop in Nashville, Tenn., at the Holiday Inn Nashville Opryland Airport, June 2-4, for directors of national community banks and federal savings associations.
“Mastering the Basics: A Director’s Challenge” is a three-day workshop designed exclusively for directors of institutions supervised by the OCC and provides practical information on the roles and responsibilities of a community bank director. Taught by seasoned OCC supervision staff, the workshop focuses on directors’ duties and core responsibilities, the regulatory environment, board reports, bank ratings, and the like.
“The workshop covers the key duties and responsibilities of a director and the activities boards may use to meet those responsibilities,” said Curt Schuman, Assistant Deputy Comptroller for the Louisville, Ky., office. “We also review the most important laws and risk management systems that an institution must have in place to operate in a safe and sound manner. It’s a great opportunity to learn about techniques and processes from experienced staff as well as the fellow workshop participants.”
The workshop fee is $99. Participants receive a pre-workshop reading package and course materials, assorted supervisory publications, and a Dictionary of Banking Terms. The workshop is limited to the first 35 registrants.
The workshop is one of 35 being offered nationwide to enhance and expand the skills of national community bank and federal savings association directors. For information, including a complete list of available workshops, or to register for a workshop, visit http://www.seiservices.com/occ or call (240) 485-1700.
