Peggy Sherry Named Deputy Chief Financial Officer

WASHINGTON — The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) today announced the selection of Peggy Sherry to be the agency’s Deputy Chief Financial Officer.

In this role, Ms. Sherry will oversee the agency’s planning and execution of our annual operating budget. In addition to her financial duties, Ms. Sherry is responsible for the oversight of the agency’s financial systems, internal and financial controls program, travel policy and operations, and agency records management functions as well as the OCC’s Office of Management’s compliance and strategic planning functions. She assumes these duties in September, succeeding Gary Crane, who is retiring.

“The OCC is fortunate to add Sherry to our leadership team,” said Comptroller of the Currency Thomas J. Curry “She brings deep experience and long commitment to public services.”

Ms. Sherry joins the OCC from the National Credit Union Administration, where she served as Deputy Chief Financial Officer. There she oversaw the agency’s accounting and budget system and led resource planning, budgeting, accounting, procurement, internal controls, and facilities management efforts.

Throughout her career, Ms. Sherry served in a number of senior financial management roles at the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, and the U.S. Government Accountability Office.

Ms. Sherry holds a master of science degree in accounting and finance from the University of Maryland University College, and was awarded a bachelor of science degree in accounting from George Mason University.
