OCC Bulletin 2012-7 | February 2, 2012

Electronic Dissemination of OCC Publications: Reduction of Printing and Mailing

To

Chief Executive Officers and Compliance Officers of All National Banks and Federal Savings Associations, Department and Division Heads, and All Examining Personnel

Purpose

This bulletin announces that in 2012 the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) will significantly increase its reliance on its website, www.occ.gov, and other electronic dissemination methods for agency publications, delivering publications to external and internal audiences faster and more efficiently. The OCC will continue to phase out printing and mailing of hard-copy publications, including many now mailed to national banks, employees, and other interested parties. By June 1, 2012, the OCC will discontinue the printing and mailing of most publications. The publications for external and internal audiences that will no longer be printed and mailed include OCC alerts, bulletins, legal interpretations, consumer advisories, and Banking Regulations for Examiners. This also includes e files DVDs.

Background

The OCC delivers publications and other critical information to key audiences as soon as they become available. In addition, the OCC is increasingly using its website, www.occ.gov, and other electronic dissemination tools to publish information and reduce the use of printed and mailed publications. In recent years, the OCC ceased to print and mail certain publications, such as Comptroller's Handbook booklets and the Quarterly Journal, to supervised institutions, employees, and other interested parties.

Subscribing to OCC Publications

The OCC strongly encourages national banks, federal savings associations, employees, and other interested parties to obtain publications and information by using www.occ.gov and signing up to receive information through the agency's other electronic dissemination tools.

OCC publications are available to subscribers of the OCC News Email List, OCC News Feeds, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media. National banks, federal savings associations, employees, and other interested parties can subscribe to the OCC News Email List at www.occ.gov/publications-and-resources/tools/occ-email-updates/index-occ-email-updates.html. They may receive OCC news releases, bulletins, and alerts by subscribing to the agency's four RSS news feeds at www.occ.gov/rss/index-rss.html.

The OCC will consider on a case-by-case basis requests to print and mail copies of agency publications for those who do not have access to the Internet.
