The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) recognizes the vital role that minority depository institutions (MDIs) play in promoting the economic viability of the communities they serve.
The OCC works to promote and revitalize MDIs through a range of initiatives, including technical assistance, efforts to promote greater access to capital, facilitating bank partnerships and collaborations, and expanding technology capabilities. The OCC is committed to furthering the regulatory and legislative mandates designed to support the creation and preservation of these institutions which often serve economically challenged and traditionally underserved communities.
The Minority Depository Institution Advisory Committee (MDIAC) helps the OCC assess the state of OCC-supervised minority depository institutions, advises on their supervisions, and shares ways to help ensure minority institutions remain a vibrant part of the federal banking system.
