Senior Financial Economist
Jack Rutner is a Senior Financial Economist in the Industry and Regional Analysis Division for the Economics Department of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).
Dr. Rutner joined the OCC in 2001. Dr. Rutner’s early work at the OCC included developing a model for the OCC’s early warning system. More recent work includes developing models of default of commercial and industrial loans and examining bank stress test models.
Prior to joining the OCC, Dr. Rutner was Senior Vice President at Joel Popkin and Co., an economics consulting firm specializing in wage and price indexes. He also had stints as an economist at the Institute for Defense Analyses, the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, and Illinois State University. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
