Deputy Comptroller for Capital and Regulatory Policy
Amrit Sekhon is Deputy Comptroller for Capital and Regulatory Policy at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).
In this role, Mr. Sekhon oversees formulation of OCC policy on bank capital issues, including developing policies and regulations to implement revisions to the Basel Capital Accord. He also serves as a key advisor to OCC executive management and the Comptroller on other important regulatory initiatives affecting the banking system, including implementation of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, the Financial Stability Oversight Council, and various international initiatives. He assumed these duties in October 2015.
Mr. Sekhon joined the OCC in 1998 as a risk specialist in the Capital Policy division. He has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility, eventually becoming the Director for Capital Policy in July 2007.
Mr. Sekhon holds a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame.
