Amrit Sekhon

Amrit Sekhon is Deputy Comptroller for International Banking and Capital Policy at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).

In his role as Deputy Comptroller for International Banking and Capital Policy, Mr. Sekhon is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the OCC’s engagement on key international banking topics, including representing the agency on the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision. He is also responsible for providing bank supervision support and developing policy positions in areas related to international banking. One of Mr. Sekhon’s other key responsibilities is to oversee formulation of OCC policy on bank capital issues, including developing policies and regulations to implement revisions to the Basel Capital Accord. He serves as a key advisor to OCC executive management and the Comptroller on other important regulatory initiatives, including various international initiatives, affecting the federal banking system.

Mr. Sekhon joined the OCC in 1998 as a risk specialist in the Capital Policy division and has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility.

Mr. Sekhon holds a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame.
